The message of a lighthouse might be: STAY AWAY, DANGER, BEWARE or COME THIS WAY. Every lighthouse tells the sailor: "This is exactly where you are."
The famous Pharos of Alexandria, Egypt, is the first one that is recorded in history and it was built about 280 BC. It used an open fire at the top as a source of light!!
